Amber Johnson, MS, RD, LD
Pediatric Registered Dietitian
Amber earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry/Biochemistry from Georgia Tech. After several years in research, she later completed both her Master’s degree in Nutrition and her dietetic internship at Georgia State University. Having always had an interest in early intervention, her internship focused primarily on the pediatric population, where Amber especially enjoyed working with children with weight management issues. She spent several months as an intern with Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta’s Fit Kids and TIPPS programs, assisting youth and their families in developing healthier lifestyles.
After graduation, Amber accepted a nutritionist position at the Marcus Autism Center in Atlanta. In her two years at Marcus, she worked in an outpatient setting counseling children with a variety of feeding issues, such as failure to thrive, underweight/poor weight gain, feeding selectivity, feeding tube issues, and weight management. She developed specialized meal plans and analyzed nutrient intake for children with a broad background of feeding concerns. Here, she gained greater insight and interest into the behavioral aspects of feeding children.
Amber is a registered and licensed dietitian in the state of Georgia, as well as a member of the American Dietetic Association, including its Pediatric Nutrition Practice Group. She is also a member of the Georgia Dietetic Association, the Greater Atlanta Dietetic Association, and the Georgia Physical Activity and Nutrition Coalition. Amber is certified by the American Dietetic Association in both Childhood and Adolescent Weight Management and Prevention Strategies for Childhood Obesity.
Outside of work, Amber enjoys running, reading, and spending time with her husband and daughter.
